Aladdin is one of my favourite Walt Disney movies and I always wanted to be the Genie because I thought he was lots of fun.

After we finished Bye Bye Birdie last year, I asked Russ Pooler if we could do Aladdin next. Guess how happy I was when he said YES!

The rehearsals were hard, but  lots of fun, especially being with all my friends. It was really great playing the Genie with all the magic tricks and singing I had to do. And it was great that my friend Ali Baxter was Aladdin and Emma Millar was Princess Jasmine. Tom Taverne was really super as the wicked Jafar - in fact, EVERYONE who took part was fantastic.

I especially liked my scenes in the magic Cave of Wonders and the Parade with everyone joining in - phew, that was hard to practice!

It took a long time for my mum to put on all my blue face paint each performance, and a longer time to get it off afterwards, but I think it was all worth it.

I look forward to when the DVD we made the day of the final performance, on the 9th of April, comes out. And, of course, I can’t wait to see what play we are going to do next time.
As my favourite song goes: You ain’t never had a friend like me, Ha Ha!
