What are cookies - and do we have some?

In this case - they aren't for eating. When you visit a website for the first time, your web browser will download a small bit of data with some user id info.

These user id's are quite handy. For example, when you log in to facebook, that cookie will recognise your computer and keep you logged in to the website. If you didn't have the cookie, then Facebook would require you to log in every time you visit another page.

Now, some cookies might be more nefarious then others, but we aren't really trying to collect any information about you. Our cookies are linked to Google Analytics, so we can see how many people visit our website and what countries are looking us up - that is very handy for seeing where short-term co-workers might be applying from.
And we use cookies for connecting to our social media accounts, primarily Facebook. If you want to read the whole legalise document on cookies please visit this page: Cookies Policy for Newton Dee Camphill Community (termsfeed.com)

But our general policy is this - we only use the cookies that are required for basic website analytics and linking to our social media pages. We don’t want to keep any more data than we have to.

Privacy Policy, why yes, glad you asked.

Here is our Website privacy policy. It is another legalise document. It checks all the required boxes.

But here is the shortened, very friendly version:

We want to keep as little information as possible. We do have a mailing list, and we manage your contacts via MailChimp. We are still new at this mailchimp thing, but they make unsubscribing pretty easy - so if you want your contact details removed, just click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.

We do not buy or sell user information - we have no need to, nor any desire to. We don’t serve ads, and have no interest in doing so.

If you contact us, we will store your contact details, such as email address, but this is really only so that we can respond to you and know who you are.

And if you want us to delete any of the basic contact information you send us - just email info@newtondee.org.uk and we will happily delete it.
